Our anatomist, Dr Robert Whitaker, has recently been awarded the prestigious Farquharson Award for outstanding teaching by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr. Robert Whitaker MA, MD, MChir, FRCS, FMAA    

Dr. Whitaker is the author of Instant Anatomy, the hugely popular reference guide that stresses anatomical relationships and schematic diagrams over fussy and laborious detail. He is a retired Consultant Urologist and a former examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons. He currently teaches clinical anatomy at the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Matthew Mason MA, PhD

Dr. Mason is based in the Department of Physiology, Development & Neuroscience within the University of Cambridge, where he is involved in the teaching and examining of medical, veterinary and natural science undergraduates. A comparative physiologist, his main research interest is the structure and function of the middle ear in mammals.

Dr. Tim Burton MA, MB, BChir, PhD

Dr. Burton is a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine at Addenbrooke’s hospital with special interests in Clinical Pharmacology and the Development of Ambulatory Care. He is the Pharmacology Fellow at Downing College and teaches undergraduate medicine at the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Fraz Mir MA, MB, BChir

Dr. Mir is a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, the lead for clinical pharmacology teaching for the University and an examiner for the final MB. He is actively involved in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is an examiner for the MRCP diploma.

Dr. Sani Aliyu, MSc, FRCP, FRCPath

Dr. Aliyu is Consultant in Microbiology and Infectious diseases at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. His research interests are molecular diagnostics, antibiotic stewardship and healthcare associated infections.

Dr. Lucy Pearmain, MA, MB, BChir

Dr Pearmain is a Registrar in Anaesthetics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. She was a contributor to Structured Oral Examination Practice for the Final FRCA published by Oxford Specialty Training: Revision Texts.


Cong Cong Bo MA (Cantab)

Cong, the course organiser, is an entrepreneur with 2 start-up companies and was the former president of the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs. She organized the first successful TEDx conference in Cambridge and is developing a new and exciting adaptive learning platform for application in medical education.

Dr. Diego Olmo-Ferrer MD

Diego is an ST4 in Emergency Medicine who passed MCEM Part C this April. He is currently working in A&E at Peterborough Hospital and is a trainer at the simulation centre in Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Dr. Vazeer Ahmed MD, FRCP, FCEM

Vaz is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Addenbrooke’s hospital where he is head of departmental Trainee and Student Education. He is a former physician having completed the MRCP as well as the FCEM.

Dr. James Brook MSci, MB, BChir

James is an Emergency Medicine Trainee at Addenbrooke’s hospital. He has succesfully completed MCEM part A and is sitting the MCEM parts B and C next autumn. He has a background in Neurosurgery and has worked at the National Neuroscience Institute of Singapore.
